A turtle was a factor in an afternoon accident that sent a woman to the hospital.
“We were coming around this curve and this lady was stopped here in the middle of the road,” Brenda Nickles said. “We couldn’t stop...because there was a truck coming this way, too.”
The SUV Nickles’ family was in ran into a nearby yard, hitting a parked car and sending the woman in the yard to the hospital with minor injuries.
“She was on the other side,” Nickles said. “Her foot got caught where she was standing.”
The reason the car was stopped: a turtle that was in the middle of the road. Nickles said the woman who was hurt in the accident had just scooped it up with a shovel.
