Passengers on board a Kakadu tourist boat got more than their money's worth when they witnessed a hungry crocodile feast on a turtle last month.
Victorian tourist Trudy Nicholson took this photograph of the pig-nosed turtle struggling in the jaws of the saltie when on a Yellow Waters cruise in the Northern Territory.
"The croc just had it between its huge jaws and hung on to it, trying to crack the shell I guess," she told our sister paper the Northern Territory News.
"We watched it for about five minutes at least.
"The turtle's foot flipper moved struggling to free itself in vain."
She said the croc soon gave up and let go of it before disappearing.
Ms Nicholson believes the croc later returned to finish the job away from the prying eyes of tourists.
