Het zou interessant zijn om de namen van de paddestoelen uit te zoeken.
Ik zie een paar Russula's. De meeste Russula's zijn niet giftig voor mensen maar zoals ik al eerder opmerkte,niet alle giftige dingen voor mensen zijn ook giftig voor dieren.
Ik ben nieuwsgierig of zij ook giftige paddestoelen eten

Soorten paddestoelen waarvan bekend is uit onderzoek dat ze gegeten worden door Terrapene (met name carolina-groep);


1] Honey Mushroom Armillariella mellea

Honey Mushrooms are very common in our area. They are usually found at the base of deciduous trees (loses leaves in Fall) or pine trees. They are also found on stumps and old wood, and sometimes they are parasites on live trees or shrubs.

The cap of this mushroom can grow up to four inches across. The cap is oval and becomes convex (dented) when it gets older. It is usually yellow or rusty-brown, sometimes with small black hairs.


2] Meadow Mushroom Agaricus campestris

Meadow Mushrooms are one of the most common wild mushrooms that people eat. They are usually white, but can also be brownish.

The cap of this mushroom is between one and four inches wide. It is dry to the touch.

The stalk of the Meadow Mushroom is one to two inches long, and about 1/2 inch thick.

The gills (feathery things underneath the cap) are pink. They become brown as the mushroom gets older.

Meadow Mushrooms grow in grassy areas, such as fields and lawns.


3] Elegant Stinkhorn Mutinus elegans

The Elegant Stinkhorn can be seen July through September. It grows on old wood, dead leaves, or in rich soil.

It can be found in many places, including woods, fields, and gardens--wherever there is decaying plant material.

The Elegant Stinkhorn attracts insects with its smell, especially flies, such as the Bluebottle fly. This fungus depends on insects to spread, much like flowers. As the flies eat the stinkhorn, spores (much like pollen from flowers) attach to the insects' bodies. The spores are in the stinkhorn's green slime. Later, these spores can grown into new fungi.


4]Jack O'Lantern Omphalotus olearius

The Jack O'Lantern is an orange or orangish-yellow mushroom with a cap up to eight inches wide. Its stalk can grow also grow eight inches tall.

Jack O'Lanterns grow in large clusters on the base of live trees, on old stumps, or on buried roots.

Like all mushrooms, the part you see (cap and stem) is just part of the fungus. Most of the fungus is a large network of threads underground or under bark of a tree. The mushroom part is a lot like the flower on a plant. Jack O'Lanterns "bloom" from July to November.

5] Pear-shaped Puffball Lycoperdon pyriforme

This mushroom is shaped like an upside-down pear. It is usually yellowish-brown and it can grow almost two inches wide and two inches tall.

Pear-shaped Puffballs grow on wood, old logs, stumps, and debris.

They are very common and they often grow together in clusters.

6] Oyster Mushroom Pleurotus ostreatus

Oyster Mushrooms can be found year-round on deciduous (lose leaves in Fall) trees, especially willows. Occasionally, they grow on pines.

These mushrooms are wide and fleshy. They can be white, gray or brown. Caps can be up to eight inches wide, usually in a semi-circle shape. The gills (feathery things under the cap) are white or yellowish. Sometimes Oyster Mushrooms have as short stalk, but it's never more than 1/2 long.

Besided growing on live trees, these mushrooms also grow on stumps or fallen branches.

Prachtige foto's

Zou het niet leuk zijn en handig om voor de Terrapenehouders een topic met foto's en namen van paddestoelen die in Nederland voorkomen? Zodat ze die aan de hand van een lijst kunnen plukken?

Ja opzich best wel, ik zou alleen geen giftige aanraden hier voor ze te plukken, hoewel bekend is dat ze die in Amerika in de natuur wel eten vindt ik dat toch griezelig.
Pluk jij weleens paddestoelen om zelf te eten?
Ik vraag me altijd af of er zoiets bestaat als zeldzame paddestoelen in Nederland die je niet mag of liever niet moet plukken, maar ik weet er weinig van ik geloof dat ik alleen eekhoornbrood herken als eetbaar.
Behalve Terrapene eten vast nog wel meer soorten schildpadden in de natuur paddestoelen dus een lijst eetbaar is best leuk, nu gebruik ik veel
berken stammetjes in het terrarium daar groeien spontaan kleine lange paddestoeltjes op, soms met name de dieren uit de carolina-groep eten hiervan maar ik heb niet het idee dat ze ze echt lekker vinden, zou leuk zijn als ze een ander soort paddestoel/zwam echt lekker vonden en om het uit te proberen.

Bijvoorbeeld de elongata's die eten ook paddestoelen. Ik geef ze wel eens champignons en oesterzwammen. Misschien dat de Terrapene dat ook eten ?

De elegansen en grieken moeten er overigens HELEMAAL NIKS van weten. Heb het wel eens geprobeerd maar ze kijken er niet eens naar om, maar leg een champigonon bij de elonagata's en hij is binnen 5 minuten op, ook al is hij net zo groot als de schildpad  cxwxsdq(((

Hier in Nederland mag je geen paddestoelen plukken maar die soorten zoals de Russula zijn zo talrijk en niet giftig,niemand mist er eentje.
In Duitsland mag je overal paddestoelen plukken en daar geven ze zelf cursussen welke je wel en niet kunt eten. Ik eet wel eens paddestoelen uit de natuur.Ik kan wel eens kijken bij mijn paddestoelenfoto's (hobby van Mij) Of ik wat voorbeelden heb van paddestoelen die je rustig kunt voeren?
